In a profession with few objective benchmarks there is only one unquestioned credential: the CMC designation. Those few who earn the right to call themselves Certified Management Consultants have attained what others aspire to - a higher level of management consulting.

Objective: 

The CMC Competency Profile covers nine areas:
helping clients assess their business situation, challenges and opportunities
helping clients to develop strategies for improvement
helping clients implement a recommendation
conducting a consulting assignment
demonstrating interpersonal competencies
demonstrating personal competencies
demonstrating ethical behaviour
demonstrating functional competence
demonstrating management breadth
Within each of these nine areas, several aspects are considered

Prerequisites: 

Requirements leading to the CMC designation (such as the engagement summaries and oral examination) are based on the Certified Management Consultant Competency Profile.

Benefits: 

Management consulting is an independent professional advisory service assisting managers and organizations to achieve organizational purposes and objectives by solving management and business problems, identifying and seizing new opportunities, enhancing learning and implementing changes.

Audience: 

Entry Level: For those with less than eight years of management consulting experience.
Experienced Level: For those with eight years of management consulting experience or more.
Executive Level:
Criterion 1: All candidates to the executive Level must hold an executive position in a consultancy at the time of application.
Criterion 2a: Candidates might be career consultants or those transitioning from industry. Career consultants must have a minimum 10 years executive experience.
Criterion 2b: Candidates transitioning from industry must have a minimum of 15 years of executive experience. This must include 3 years of consulting experience including the past 12 months in a practice leadership capacity.
Criterion 3: Candidates should display "breadth of knowledge" demonstrated by work experience in more than one sector or functional area OR by an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
Criterion 4: Sponsorship of 2 CMCs in good standing.
Criterion 5: Approval of the appropriate Provincial Institute.
